Great River Race - September 2009 |

From its debut in 1988, the 22 mile 'Great River Race' has firmly established itself in the sporting calendar. It was inspired by the immense interest generated by a 1987 charity event in which the famous Doggett's Coat & Badge winners from The Company of Watermen & Lightermen rowed its shallop, or passenger barge, from Hampton Court to The Tower of London. Dee Barron takes part. |

Race For Life - June 2009 |

The Race for Life began in 1994 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. It is now the biggest women-only fundraising event in the UK, with all the money raised in sponsorship going towards their work. Claire Matinez takes part. |

RNLI Day At Cowes Week |

Cowes week is normally an intense week of yacht racing and socializing, with action both on and off the water. Having sailed at this significant yacht racing event for a number of years, I decided this year to ‘hang-up’ my oillies and volunteer for a day working for the RNLI on their lifeboat training experience roadshow and fund raising stand at the Yacht Haven arena in West Cowes. |

On a slightly chilly Saturday afternoon in February, a team from Coleman decided to brave all and take part in the Poole Lions Club Swimarathon at the Dolphin Swimming Poole and raise over £800. |

I took part in my first Hydro Active Women's Challenge, running on behalf of Round Table Children's Wish (RTCW), in September of 2005. Despite it being a blisteringly hot late summer's day it was a great experience, so when the girls asked me to take part again this year I was happy to agree. |

On Sunday 22nd July I had to wake up at 7am to prepare for the Swanage to Wareham row followed by the Wareham to Swanage boat push.
Two teams rowed our gigs, 'Old Harry' and 'Peveril' 18 miles from Swanage through Poole Harbour and up the River Frome to Wareham Quay. |
