Confidence & reassurance are rare commodities
we deal in both

I recently took part in a ‘Race for Life’ event for the second time and despite the weather being extremely hot I had a thoroughly enjoyable and inspirational day.

The Race for Life began in 1994 to raise funds for Cancer Research UK. It is now the biggest women-only fundraising event in the UK, with all the money raised in sponsorship going towards their work.
Many participants of the race choose to wear a back sign to either remember a loved one lost to cancer or to celebrate survival. I was running the race with my group of friends in memory of our friend Katie who recently lost her battle against Leukaemia. We all wore pink vest tops with a picture of ‘KT’ on the back.
The event I ran in was at Bournemouth Seafront which was one of many 5 kilometre races being held over the UK throughout the summer months. I arrived at 1pm with the race due to start at 2pm and the atmosphere was already amazing. A fitness instructor went through a warm up with us all and people from St Johns Ambulance gave out bottles of water, apples and sun cream.

The race began at 2pm and after the first kilometre I was exhausted! But I kept going until the end and managed to complete the course in 30 minutes which I was very proud of. At the finish line everyone received a medal and a goody bag for taking part.
In total I raised £360 in sponsorship from friends, family and work colleagues and I’m hoping to raise even more next year!
